Traditional mediums, 2018

The portraits depict Lanna Thai spirit mediums during a faun phi ceremony in my mother’s hometown of Lampang, Thailand. The women are captured in states of trance while possessed by ancient spirits. As spirit mediums depicted photographically, this work plays on the relationship between the visible and the invisible, cultural heritage and gender.
